I thought this would be the most appropriate place to post.
I am on my 3rd year of H1-B (non-technical field), just moved to a new company and was going to start my process toward getting a gc in the next month or so. Now, with all of this, I am very confused.
Do you folks think that it is most appropriate to sit tight and wait to see what happens? or to just go for it now?
I'd appreciate your input, as I have to make a decision soon.

If EAD is not filed along with I485 application, Do we need to wait for I485 reciept to file EAD or a copy of 485 application is enough?

Thank for the reply. I hope the suggestions will be acted on and implemented at the earliest. It's frustrating to see that the priority dates haven't moved by a single day in last 6 months, something really needs to be done and I will do my support IV with anything.

There are few brave souls who refuse to give up and are fighting for the greater benefit of the entire community!

I start off with something, add something to it, add some more touches and voila.
Sometimes I start with a custom shape, sometimes I start with the line tool, sometimes the paintbrush, gradient, whatever.

My company filed my green card and have applied for 485 for me and my wife on July 19 with July visa bulletin reinstated. We have also applied for AP and EAD for my wife. We both are on H1 at this time. My wife' job is going to end by month end.
Does she need to file change of status to H4 or it is fine to stay in US with AOS pending status.
My 140 is still pending
As far as I know, if a 485 is pending, a person can continue to be in the US without a visa. So she would not require a H-4.
All the same, I would still get a H-4 as this will be advantageous as,
1. Your receipt has not yet arrived. What if the Application is rejected for initial evidence problem?
2. AP takes a long time to come and she has to make an urgent trip back home?
3. 485 gets denied by mistake. She has to have a valid status to fall back on, so you can file motion to reopen, etc.
The chances of any of the above happening are low, but it is better to anticipate trouble and be as prepared as we can.

IV admin, can we have a separate option on the details to show that GC is already received. Like rb_248 got it last september and he/she still comes here and shares his knowledge. so having that option display would be gr8.

Thats a good question. Would it still be considered valid if we mailed the documents on Friday so that it reaches them Saturday. They'd still be opening the mail on Monday July 2nd. I have a feeling that would be too late. Any others in the same boat ?

While I still hold my views , I can see IVs effort in other directions as well and that made me contribute to specific efforts.
Remember , I am using the word "contribute" and not "donate" . That is your word.

Thanks Kingkon. I heard the appeal takes no more than a year. but DOL in Atlanta keeps telling my HR manager that they are backlogged. I am not sure what to do.
I had my EB2 LC rejected and the reason that DOL gave was they were not able to contact the employer and/or employer did not respond to their correspondence. Lawyer gave me two option to refile (I will lose PD) or appeal. This was in 2005 when PERM had just started and the lawyers said they did not know how long the appeal process takes in PERM since it was new system. To cut the story short I received the approved LC within 45days of appeal, but my case was a simple one I think. Your case it a bit different but in no case an appeal should take 1.5 years at least in PERM.

Reason: Employer didn't follow labor rules in paying for some of the other employees.
Employer is saying he will appeal the denial but few more questions.
I heard that while appeal is in process I can't work. Also, I still need to get the EAD. So how can I work legally ?
Can another employer file my H1 transfer in normal processing ? ( I will request my original employer that I will come back and work for him after I get the EAD, the reason for normal processing instead of premium is to get some time until I get EAD.)
Can I start work for the other employer from the day of the H1b filing or have to wait until I get the H1b approval ( my h1 already got expired ) ?
Will changing my employer after 485 is filed jeopardise my 485 process ? ( I have intention to come back to original employer after I get EAD).
Any suggestions ?
